Life Insurance
What are the Benefits of Term Life Insurance?
Term life insurance allows you to select the amount of coverage you purchase for the period of time you and your loved ones need protection.
- You can select the length of the term for which you would like coverage, up to 35 years.
- Payments are fixed and do not increase during your term period.
- In case of an untimely death, your dependents will receive the benefit amount specified in the term life insurance agreement.
- When you purchase term life insurance, it can be personalized by selecting terms and coverage that apply to your lifestyle. People who have small children may want a different type of coverage than people who are close to retirement age.
- You can customize term life insurance with the addition of riders, such as Child, Waiver of Premium or Accidental Death.1
Some of the reasons people purchase term life insurance are:
- Estate planning
- Maintenance of dependents’ standard of living in case of your untimely death
- Protection of spouse until your retirement years
- Payment of mortgage and other debts in case of your untimely death
Different Types of Term Insurance
There are two different categories of term life insurance:
- Traditional term life insurance provides a death benefit.
- Return of premium term life insurance provides a death benefit, but will return an amount equal to the premiums paid at the end of the term if you are still living and the policy is in force.
